Dear Land of Youth

Camp Hymn of Camp Mazinaw

(Tune: Finlandia)

Dear Land of Youth, on lips our praise is forming,
For paddles smoothly flashing in the sun.
For the brown thrust of youth grown free and supple,
While wind-blown waves caress the shore.
For the brown thrust of youth grown free and supple,
While wind-blown waves caress the shore.

This is our land on which, like wind, we wander,
Along white streams and lakes where mist arises.
It’s here we dream, as free as clouds adrifting,
Within our hearts, a song of love.
It’s here we dream, as free as clouds adrifting,
Within our hearts, a song of love.

We sing before the campfire’s embers,
Where moonbeams play in shadows of pine.
Contentment falls, then peace spreads o’er our sleeping,
In this our home, with stars ashine.
Contentment falls, then peace spreads o’er our sleeping,
In this our home, with stars ashine.

Forsan et haec olim meminisse iuvabit.
Perchance in days to come it will please you to recall this.
